DEXTER - John Joseph Jibben, 48, died Nov. 4, 2007, at his home.
Born May 23, 1959, at Poplar Bluff, son of Noemy Jibben of Dexter and the late Dr. Robert E. Jibben, he attended school in Dexter and graduated from Dexter Senior High School in 1977. He was a member of the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) for many years and recently the First United Methodist Church of Dexter. He graduated with a bachelor of science degree in administration of justice from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale in 1982.
After graduation, he worked in the police department at Corsicana, Texas where he attained the rank of sergeant. He then returned to Missouri in 1990 an began work as an administrator for the Missouri Department of Human Rights with an office in Sikeston for five years.
In addition to his mother, survivors include: one daughter, Amelia Marie Jibben of Dexter; one brother, Dr. Robert "Bobby" Jibben and wife Laurie of Dexter; one sister, Cecilia Wagoner and husband Shane of Nixa; one nephew, Benjamin Wagoner; one niece, Lisa Marie Wagoner; and other relatives and friends.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death in 2005 by one sister, Nannette Jibben.
He was a most beloved son, brother and father. We will miss him forever and remember him with love.
Visitation is from 3 p.m. until time of services at 4 p.m. Friday at the Rainey-
Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter with the Rev. Louis Lowe officiating.
