SIKESTON - A Taylor Craft airplane belonging to Paul Tudie Jones was badly damaged when a wind squall flipped it over about 3 o'clock Sunday afternoon.
DEXTER - Final plans for the Dexter Memorial Hospital will be ready for approval about Sept. 1. The announcement was made at the regular meeting of the hospital board last Monday night.

BENTON - Scott County farmers sell $12,883,939 worth of products a year, according to the Census of Agriculture. Farmers in New Madrid County sell $30,549,098 of their products a year, according to preliminary report issued in Washington, D.C.
EAST PRAIRIE - Construction of the addition to East Prairie's City Administration Building on Washington Drive to house police department facilities began this week. The project, estimated to cost $80,000, should be completed this summer. The new addition will include two cells, interrogation and viewing rooms, a holding pen, lounge, showers and storage areas.

CHARLESTON - With plans under way for the new, proposed Mississippi County Jail, the commissioners are excited about county progress. Much of Thursday's meeting centered around the plans for the jail. Harold Porterfield of Poplar Bluff presented designs to the commission for their approval. The plans include a jail with over 80 beds, opposed to the 32 beds the county currently has.
