SIKESTON - R. C. Scott of St. Louis, brother of C.C. Scott, has recently purchased an interest in the Sikeston Laundry. He will be associated with J.M. Law in the operation and management of the laundry.

SIKESTON - The newly organized Travelers Protective Association gave 56 Safety Patrol jackets to public and parochial schools yesterday to students who are on the Safety Patrol. The Association, Post Q of the Missouri Division, sponsors safety for school children and has a membership of 75 persons.

SIKESTON - The 1985-86 officers installed at the Legal Secretary of the Year and Boss of the Year banquet 1985 Monday evening included Mary Barnes of Sikeston as vice president.


SIKESTON - Robert Stearnes was elected mayor of Sikeston and councilman Marion Thompson was sworn in for another three-year term at Monday's special meeting of the Sikeston City Council.

SIKESTON - Sikeston residents are being encouraged to recycle. Officials at Sonny's Solid Waste said they are trying to increase the items that they accept for recycling. Currently people can bring in plastic containers with the symbols HDPE 2 or PETE 1 as well as newsprint, glass, metal and cardboard.


SIKESTON - The Sikeston Middle School Sixth grade math team and three seventh graders competed in a mathematics contest at Cape Girardeau. Participants included Steven Addison, Isaac Johnson, Johnathan Keenan, Blake Miller, Ellie Miller and Emily Borgsmiller.
