HERNANDO, Miss. -- Katherine Sheppard, 78, died Sept. 1, 2005, at her daughter's home in Hernando.
Born Sept. 14, 1926, in Russellville, Ark., daughter of the late H. Berkley and Jewel Turner Talkington, she grew up in Risco, Mo., where she graduated from high school. She moved to St. Louis, Mo., and lived a short time in California before moving to Mississippi 30 years ago. She graduated with a bachelor's degree in accounting from college in St. Louis and was retired from Gates Lumber Company, where she worked as an accountant and credit manager. She was a member of the Hernando Baptist Church in Hernando.
On Nov. 27, 1973, in Memphis, Tenn., she married Jack Dean Sheppard who preceded her in death on March 29, 1992.
Survivors include: three daughters, Linda Gladding of Bishop, Calif., Vicki Younger of Hernando and Cheryl Carlew of Madison; two brothers, Larry Don Talkington of Bryan, Ohio, and Danny Talkington of Grayridge; two sisters, Shirley Gibbs of Risco and Phillis Norrid-Crites of Dexter, Mo.; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Visitation is from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Monday at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter with the Herman Morse of Dexter, pastor of Church of Christ in Essex, Mo., officiating.
Burial will follow in the Hagy Cemetery at Dexter.
