More charges filed by Sikeston DPS

SIKESTON - More charges were filed on subject who was arrested with the help of an alert resident Sikeston's city camera system.

Andrew Washington, 22, of Sikeston wanted for four counts of first degree statutory sodomy was arrested by Sikeston Department of Public Safety officers on March 3.

During an interview by Sikeston's Criminal Investigations Unit, detectives obtained a confession from Washington on the sodomy cases and on several burglaries that occurred in Sikeston during the last six months. Seventeen burglary cases and two other statutory sex cases were solved as a result of this interview.

Washington's arrest came after a customer recognized him from the Sikeston's Most Wanted Web page. The patron contacted DPS and a communications officer was able to use the camera system to identify and alert DPS officers, who arrested him for the outstanding warrant.
