KANSAS CITY, Kan. - Cynthia Brown Smith, 36, formerly of Charleston, Mo., died April 21, 2005, at the University of Kansas Hospital in Kansas City, Kan.
Born Aug. 10, 1968, in Sikeston, Mo., daughter of Florence Dixon of Charleston and Joseph Newcomb of Detroit, Mich., she had lived in Kansas since 1968. She was a 1968 graduate of Charleston High School.
On April 9, 1989, she married Ricardo Smith who survives.
Also surviving are: two sons, Brandon Smith and William Bates of Kansas City, Kan.; three brothers, Marcus Dixon of Memphis, Tenn., Joseph Lee Newcomb Jr. of Carbondale, Ill., and Markhail Newcomb of Detroit; five sisters, Tiffany Dixon of Charleston, Valerie Dixon of Chicago, Jatuen Newcomb of Memphis, Nicole Newcomb of Atlanta and Kishia Newcomb of Udora, Ark; her stepfather, Allen Dixon of Charleston; her stepmother, Brenda Newcomb of Detroit; and her paternal grandmother, Mary Newcomb of Pontiac, Mich.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. Saturday until time for services at noon Saturday at the Mercy Seat Baptist Church in Charleston. The Rev. J.L. Posey will officiate.
Burial will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery with Williams Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
