MALDEN -- The Rev. Garfery Wilson, 86, died May 10, 2006, at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.
Born Dec. 27, 1919, in Marianna, Ark., son of the late Jesse David and Carrie Paul Wilson, he was a minister and U.S. Navy seaman first class in World War II. A member of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church in Malden, he was also a member of American Legion and Ministerial Alliance, a past member of the St. Luke Masonic Lodge 80, and he served on Malden City Council from 1980
On Nov. 3, 1940, in Bernie, he married Ora Lee Pearson, who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: seven sons and four daughters-in-law, Jesse P. Wilson of Cleveland, Ohio, Raymond G. and Gerri Wilson of Malden, Glenn L. and Bobbie Wilson of Kokomo, Ind., Willie L. Wilson of Kingsville, Texas, Donald R. and Deena Wilson of Sacramento, Calif., John R. Wilson of Sacramento and Duane and Lillie Wilson of Logansport, Ind.; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Eunice P. and Albert T. Jackson of Kokomo, Dorthy M. and Booker T. Armstrong of Elk Grove, Calif., and Gloria F. Wilson of Malden; four brothers, Larry Wilson of Kokomo, David Wilson of Cincinnati, Ron Wilson of California and Terry Wilson of Puyallub, Wash.; eight sisters, Anah L. Moore of Malden, Gladys Walker of Chicago, Esther M. Goodman of Malden, Rachel Wilson of Atlanta, Patricia Allen of Kennett, Doris A. Wilson of Kokomo, Marie Johnson of Long Beach, Calif., and Grace Wilson of Kokomo; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sons, John E. Wilson and Andre Wilson; one brother, Oscar Wilson; and four sisters, Isobell V. Starker, Ruth Wilson, Rosemary Wilson and Helen Wilson.
Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Landess Funeral Home in Malden, where services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday. The Rev. Quincy Keeble Sr. will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Macedonia Cemetery at Malden.
