SIKESTON - Melvin L. Taylor, 73, died Sept. 18, 2005, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
Born Aug. 24, 1932, in Idaho, son of the late Eldred and Bonny Clifford Taylor, he was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served during the Korean War and was a member and past commander of the Henry Meldrum American Legion Post 114.
Survivors include: two daughters, Kristi Upshaw of Benton, Ark. and Teresa Jackson of Bryant, Ark.; four sisters, Joyce Adams and Barbara Lowe of Sikeston, Annette Lewis of Benton, Mo., and Sue O'Neal of Star City, Ark.; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Visitation is from 11:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. Wednesday at Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston.
Graveside services with full military rites will follow at 2 p.m. at the Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield. The Rev. David Jackson, minister of education and outreach at First Baptist Church, will officiate.
