FESTUS - Harold Thatcher, 81, formerly of East Prairie and Clinton, Ky., died at 6:02 p.m. Aug. 20, 2005, at the John Cochran VA Medical Center in St. Louis.
Born May 5, 1924, in Morrillton, Ark., to the late Hogan and Junie Tiner Thatcher, he lived in Festus for the past two months moving from Clinton, where he lived for 15 years, having moved there from East Prairie. A member of the Church of Christ, he was a veteran of the Army Air Corps, serving during World War II.
On March 17, 1946, he married Stella Brantley, who preceded him in death on Dec. 1, 1984.
Two brothers preceded him in death also.
Surviving are: one daughter and son-in-law, Detta and Terry Baldwin of Festus; one brother, DeWitt Thatcher of Thayer; six sisters, Dorothy Larkins of Clinton, Ky., Virginia Hopgood of East Prairie, Norma Wilson of Elk City, Okla., Eulene Davis of Lake Village, Ark., Barbara Harrington of Mountain View, Ark., and Shirley Stevens of Pampa, Texas; and three grandchildren and 10 great-
Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. today at the Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie where services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday. Aubrey Wilson will officiate.
Burial will follow in the East Prairie Memorial Park Cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by the Missouri Military Funeral Honors Program and the Brown-Twitty American Legion Post 595 of New Madrid.
