SCOTT CITY - James Marlin Byassee, 62, died at 10:21 a.m. March 6, 2006, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
Born Nov. 18, 1934, in Fulton, Ky., son of the late Horace James and Marie Humphrey Byassee, he was a truckdriver and had worked for the Benjamin Moore Paint Co. He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served during the Korean War.
On Aug. 1, 1959, he married Sharon Lee Santhuff, who preceded him in death on Nov. 3, 1995.
One son and one brother also preceded him in death.
On Dec. 13, 1997, in Scott City, he married Martha Lou O'Bryant Holder, who survives.
Other survivors include: one son, Randy Byassee of Benton; two stepsons, Norman Holder Jr. of Scott City and Robert Holder of Benton; one daughter, Peggy Rulo of Benton; two stepdaughters, Sandy Comer of Scott City and Sheri Rister of Chaffee; three brothers, Darrell Myrick, Roger Byassee and Kenny Byassee, all of Fulton; four sisters, Beverly Bartley, Margaret Byassee, Brenda Schubert and Janice Byassee, all of Fulton; and seven grandchildren, five stepgrandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and two great-
Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City, where services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday. The Rev. Jim Norris will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Oakdale Cemetery near Commerce.
