SIKESTON - The Sikeston High School baseball team won and lost two games played in the Southeast Missouri League. The Bulldogs beat Chaffee 8-6, but lost to Cape College 1-2.
SIKESTON - Sikeston High School students will be among 21 students to participate in the annual Plymouth Trouble Shooting contest to be held at Roosevelt High School in St. Louis at 1 p.m. Saturday.
JEFFERSON CITY - David Wilson of Bernie was one of five people who won $2,000 in the weekly spinning of the Missouri Lottery jackpot wheel. Because no one took home the $3.48 million jackpot, next week's grand prize will be worth about $4,017,712, according to lottery officials.
PORTAGEVILLE - Seven children from the First Baptist Church participated in the state finals of the Children's Bible Drill for children in grades 4-6 held May 2 and 3. More than 400 persons took part in the drill that increased knowledge of the Bible. Each participant had to memorize 25 scriptures and learn the names of the books of the Bible in the proper order and be able to locate them in the Bible.
DEXTER - Police caught up with a naked burglar, who is now in jail. Dexter Police were called to a home in the 700 block of North Walnut Street, where a 15-year old girl told officers she woke up and saw a naked man in her bedroom. When the girl began screaming, the man escaped by crawling through an open window. Following their investigation, officers developed leads on a suspect, who was located in Malden and detained by officers there. Dexter Police have charged a 25 year-old Malden resident with first degree burglary and he is being held in the Dexter City Jail in lieu of $25,000 bond.
