DeJournett wins at Sikeston Raceway

SIKESTON - SEMO Raceway located in Sikeston wrapped up another exciting kart racing evening Saturday, May 21st with some new and first time visitors to victory lane.

In the beginners Yard Kart class for, 6-9 year olds, Mark Messner of Morehouse held off the 29 kart driven by Cade McClellan of Cape Girardeau to make his very first appearance in victory lane by taking the lead and holding it for the 12 lap feature.

Another top runner for the evening was Dylan DeJournett of Essex who is usually behind the wheel of a 305 full size sprint car. DeJournett came back to the roots of his racing career in the Jr Stock Unrestricted Open Kart class to grab an awesome checkered flag finish by holding off the driver of the 47B kart driven by Joe B. Miller of Millersville, who had no problem letting DeJournett know he was on his tail for the entire feature event.

Miller gained speed in the turns and was running high and low looking to take the win to no avail with DeJournett in the 84 kart's blocking maneuvers.

SEMO Raceway's Kart Racers will be back in action Saturday. Spectator Gates open at 6 p.m. and racing begins at 7 p.m.
