Two killed in accidents

DEXTER -- An Essex woman was fatally injured in a two-vehicle accident Thursday in Stoddard County.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, at 3:20 p.m., six miles east of Dexter, an accident occurred as Virginia Black, 74, of Essex crossed US Highway 60 from Highway FF into the path of the eastbound vehicle on Highway 60 driven by Larry D. Watkins, 55, of Louisville, Ky. Watkins' vehicle then struck Black's vehicle. Black was taken by helicopter to St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, where she died later.

Watkins was moderately injured and transported to Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.

HAYTI -- A Pemiscot County resident sustained fatal injuries after his freightliner overturned Wednesday.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol at 3:50 p.m. in Pemiscot County, two miles south of Hayti, an accident occurred as southbound motorist Clyde M. Manley, 74, of Caruthersville attempted to merge right onto U.S. Highway 412 and overturned.

Manley was air evacuated to Elvis Presley Trauma Center in Memphis, Tenn., and was later transferred to Regional Medical Center in Memphis, where he was pronounced dead at 9:27 p.m.

ESSEX -- A two-vehicle accident resulted in injuries for three people Thursday in Stoddard County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports at 4:04 p.m. motorist Darryl E. Neill, 36, of Metropolis, Ill., was stopped in traffic on U.S. Highway 60, two miles northwest of Essex. An accident occurred as eastbound motorist Rema K. Revelle, 41, of Poplar Bluff ran into the rear of Neill's vehicle.

Revelle and passenger, Gary E. Revelle, 45, of Poplar Bluff received moderate injuries and were taken by ambulance to Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center. Neill sustained minor injuries and was transported to Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.
