SIKESTON - Milton Powell, 75, died Nov. 5, 2005, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
Born Nov. 29, 1929, in Atala, Ala., son of the late Ollie Andrew and Bertha Lee Hannah Powell Sr., he was of the Pentecostal faith and a stock car enthusiast. He had been a self-employed auto mechanic in New Madrid and later worked for the Sikeston Motor Company. He had owned and operated Powell's Auto Repair for many years before retiring.
On May 13, 1955, he married Lillian Simmons who survives of the home.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by: one son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Ricki Powell of Sikeston; three daughters and one son-in-law, Janice and Jason Holt, Pamela Powell and her fiance, Major Morrison, and Angela Powell, all of Sikeston; three brothers, Fred Powell of Barlow, Ky., Billy Powell of Nashville, Tenn., and Clark Powell of Dayton, Ohio; two sisters, Lorene Divinny of St. Louis and Christine Mays of Lilbourn; and eleven grandchildren, Amanda Powell, Ashley Powell, Racheal Powell, Lilly Powell, Craig Templeton, Laura Templeton, Corrie Holt, Lindsey Powell, Dustin Lewis, Melissa Noe and Jared Townsend, all of Sikeston.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by two brothers, Don Powell and Ollie Andrew Powell Jr.
Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston where funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday with the Rev. Kelley Grubbs, pastor of Murray Lane Baptist Church, officiating.
Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery.
