CHARLESTON -- Velma Lee Chamberlain, 78, died at 3:40 p.m. April 26, 2005, at the Charleston Manor.
Born July 26, 1926, in Hickman, Ky., to the late William A. and Minnie Kassie Carter Chamberlain, she was a member of the West Hickman Baptist Church. She lived in Hickman until moving with her family in 1942 to St. Louis where she worked as an elevator operator for a department store. In 1954, she returned to Hickman and remained there until moving to Charleston in 1991. Survivors include several nieces and nephews and great- and great-great-
nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by six brothers, J.D. Chamberlain, Clarence Chamberlain, Ernest Chamberlain, Lonnie Chamberlain, Gene Chamberlain and Charles Chamberlain; and two sisters, Eva Chamberlain Putnam and Mattie May Chamberlain.
Visitation is from 9:30 a.m. Saturday until time for services at 10 a.m. at McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston. The Rev. Gerald Penn, pastor of the First Assembly of God Church in Charleston, will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Hickman City Cemetery.
