CHAFFEE -- Doye F. Gadberry, 71, died Oct. 9, 2005, at his home with loved ones by his side.
Born Aug. 31, 1934, in Mt. Vernon, Ark., son of the late Alfred and Isabelle McNich Gadberry, he worked for many years at Scott County Central schools and later as a carpenter who built many of the homes, churches and other building in the area. He was known for his honesty and strong character and as a respected family leader, card player and fisherman.
On Nov. 15, 1952, at Morley, he married Claudia Freeman who survives of the home.
Doye was the beloved father of Rick F. Gadberry, Debbie J. Glasstetter, and Michelle D. Perkins of Chaffee, Danny L. Gadberry of Lebanon, Ohio, and Keith D. Gadberry of Sikeston.
He was the cherished grandfather of Russell L. Gadberry of Benton, Justin D. Gadberry, Micki L. Crumb and Andrew J. Crumb of Chaffee, and Summer D. Gadberry and Brandon K. Gadberry of Sikeston.
He was the devoted great-grandfather of Zachary Perkins, Jacob Perkins, Dylan Gadberry and Morgan Gadberry.
Doye was the respected brother of Michael Gadberry of Sikeston, Billy Joe Gadberry of Morley, Sharon Ward of Poplar Bluff, and Sue Marchbank, Barbara Grubb and Thelma of Van Buren.
He was preceded in death by one brother, two sisters and one granddaughter, Samantha F. Gadberry.
Friends may call from 10:30 a.m. Wednesday until time for services at 2 p.m. at the Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston.
Burial will follow in the Forest Hills Memorial Gardens Cemetery at Morley with arrangements by Nunnelee Funeral Chapel.
