MALDEN - O.C. Eugene Cooper Sr., 64, died July 13, 2005, at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center in Poplar Bluff.
Born Nov. 16, 1940, in Millington, Tenn., to the late Clarence Whitson Sr. and Gertrude Brown Cooper, he was a retired employee of Noranda Aluminum Co. Inc. The pastor at the House of Deliverance Church of God in Christ in Portageville, he was district superintendent and a member of the executive board of Missouri Southeast Third Jurisdiction.
On June 15, 1985, at Lilbourn, he married Flora F. Field, who survives of the home.
Also surviving are: two daughters, Sherry Fields and Shelly D. Thornton of Chesapeake, Va.; seven brothers, Cories J. Cooper of the state of Michigan, Clarence Whitson Jr., Berford Whitson and Lawrence Whitson of Atoka, Tenn., and Donald Whitson, Marvin Whitson and Kenneth Whitson of Memphis; nine sisters, Ruthey Mae Watson, Artis Marie Kimbel, Mae Bell Powell of Michigan, Babe Ruth Cooper of Malden, Annie Washington, Sandra Bounds and Clara Malone of Atoka, Tenn., and Wanda Faye Wakefield and Brenica Crockett of Memphis; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Tyreece Whitson and Oscar Jackson; one sister, Shirley Whitson, and his stepmother, Lillie Mae Whitson.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Landess Funeral Chapel in Malden. Funeral services will be at noon Monday at the Green Memorial Church of God in Christ in Sikeston with Bishop Charlie Green Sr. officiating.
Burial will follow in the Rosewood First Addition Cemetery at Malden.
