COLUMBIA -- Delta bounced back from a semifinal loss to defeat Silex 42-37 for third place in the MSHSAA Class 1 girls championship on Saturday.
Kaci Menz topped the Lady Bobcats with 16 points.
Freshman Jodi Menz chipped in with seven points and hauled down a game-
high 14 rebounds, six on the offensive end. Shea Smith added eight points.
With everyone returning, Delta coach Randy White sees a bright future ahead.
"The big thing, it showed what our potential is," White said. "I'm not sure if getting here one time helps you much or not. The one thing getting here does show you is what your potential is for the upcoming year. We're definitely not going to be complacent."
Dekalb captured the Class 1 title with a 51-39 win over Leeton, which had defeated Delta in the semifinal.
In a Class 3 third-place contest, Doniphan lost to Westran 63-51.
Morgan Davis paced the Lady Dons (24-6) with 15 points and Adja Jones added nine.
Pembroke Hill won the girls Class 3 title with a 66-40 victory over Blair Oaks, victor over Doniphan in the semifinal.
