New year, new faces to SACC

Sunday, January 6, 2008

I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. The new year brings new faces to the SACC board of directors and new officers for 2008.

The SACC board of directors accepted the new slate at their December board meeting. The new additions to the 28 member board include returning members Dr. Leslie Winchester, Winchester Chiropractic, Krissi Crum of Cargill, Inc., Britt McConnell of Focus Bank, with new members Leslie Hardy of DeWitt Company, Elizabeth Lorenz of First State Bank and Trust, Rebecca Steward Attorney At Law, Laura Green of Anderson and Green Insurance, and Tracy Cookson of DJ's Shoes and Things. Our officers for the 2008 year are President Mike Conway of Black & Conway CPA, 1st Vice President Joe Bill Davis of KBXB & KRHW Radio, 2nd Vice President Michelle Fayette of the Kenny Rogers Children's Center, and Secretary Jon Gilmore of SEMO Title Company. I want to thank all our board members for their service to the Sikeston Area Chamber of Commerce and I especially want to recognize our outgoing board members Kendall Ayers of First Midwest Bank, Lori Fowler of Area Properties, Steve McPheeters of Noranda, and John Testa of Falkoff's Men's Shop. It has been a pleasure working with all these individuals during their terms on the SACC board we will miss them in their board capacity, but look forward to working with them on our special events.

Individuals that serve on our board commit to three year terms and are eligible for a one time renewal to serve a complete six years if they choose and more often than not our members choose to run for two consecutive terms. These individual have very busy professional lives but manage to find a way to donate their time to the chamber and our various projects that strive "to improve the business climate and enhance the quality of life within the area served". I along with the SACC staff thank them for their commitment to our efforts and our community.

If you would like more information about the chamber or the Sikeston and Miner communities go to our website at www.sikeston.net. It is our hope that the Sikeston and Miner area has a very prosperous 2008 and remember "It's not what you did it's what you do next".
