Born Nov. 3, 1968, at Rockford, Ill., son of Gilbert Marler Sr. of Poplar Bluff and Linda Faulkner Thompson of Sulligent, Ala., he was a self-employed truck driver.
On July 31, 2004, at Essex, he married Laurie Sherwood who survives of the home.
Besides his wife and parents, he is survived by: his stepmother, Jeanie Marler of Poplar Bluff; his stepfather, John Thompson of Sulligent, Ala.; three stepsons, Robert Metz and Christopher Metcalf, both of Essex, and James Metcalf of Heinsville, Ga.; two stepdaughters, Angela Turner of Circle City and Krystal Thomas of Muldraugh, Ky.; his paternal grandmother, Glenda Marler of Greenville; three brothers, Bobby Williams of Dexter, Jimmy Moss of Hopedale, Ill. and Jimmy Williams, address unknown; four sisters, Paula Peterson and Bridgett Barnhill both of Poplar Bluff, Sheila Adams of Fredericktown and Raquel Cumby of Norwood; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one stepdaughter, Cynthia Weaver; and one brother, Donald Eugene Marler.
Visitation is from 5-8 p.m. today at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter where services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday with the Rev. Bryan Johnson officiating.
Burial will follow in the Center Ridge Cemetery near Greenville.
