Born Sept. 14, 1936, in Missouri, son of the late William and Iva Lape Richie, he was employed as a residential carpenter and also was a United States veteran.
Survivors include: his wife, Virginia Richie of Temple; three daughter and one son-in-law, Linda Goddard of St. Louis, Mo., Karen Wills of Marietta and Stacey and Jef Tatroe of Dallas, Ga.; two sons and daughters-in-law, Tracey and Kim Richie of Temple and Michael and Tammy Wills of Saucier, Mo.; three brothers, Robert Ritchey of Charleston, Mo., Alvin Payne, Jr. of Parma, Mo., and Charles Payne of Parma; two sisters, Ruth Ashley of Dothan, Ala. and Brenda Westmoreland of Miner, Mo.; and eight grandchildren;
Services were conducted Sept. 4 at Benson Funeral Home with the Rev. Steve Bek officiating. A eulogy was given by Robert Ritchey.
The body was cremated and the cremains were buried at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton.
