SIKESTON - Ray Auddell, well known Sikeston businessman, is announcing his candidacy for the office of alderman from Ward 3.
LILBOURN - Joanna Duncan, 17, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Duncan, has been accepted to perform as a member of the district band which plays at the district teacher's meeting in Cape Girardeau Thursday.
DEXTER - The annual United Way Fund drive is under way following a meeting of workers Tuesday night at the civic center. The kickoff meeting at the civic center followed an advance gift drive which netted $4,300, a spokesman from the drive said.
SIKESTON - Ben Bryant, who won the Elks Central Region "Hoop-Shoot" semi-
final competition Saturday at the University of Tennessee-Martin, has advanced to the age 8-9 national tournament in Indianapolis, Ind. Bryant will represent one of 12 regions in the United States at the 14th annual Elks event on April 19.
CHARLESTON - Today is the deadline for Charleston High School seniors to sign up for Project Graduation, an alternative being offered to partying following graduation May 22.

SIKESTON - The Sikeston Public Safety Fire Division responded to a fire at approximately 9 a.m. Tuesday at M & M Trailer Manufacturing on County Road 528. It is undetermined how the fire started, but Public Safety had the blaze contained and the area secured in a short amount of time. Officials say there will be an investigation into the origin of the fire.
SIKESTON - One of the "founding fathers" of Sikeston's youth baseball program was chosen by the Park Board for installation on the Honors Board. The late Clovis Lancaster chosen was the only one of five nominees named on the required three-fourths of the ballots cast by the nine member board.
