Truck driver's body identified

Tuesday, May 9, 2006

MATTHEWS - A truck driver, whose body was discovered during the weekend at a Matthews truck stop, died of natural causes.

Following an autopsy Monday, New Madrid County Coroner Jimmy McSpadden said the body discovered in a truck at the Flying J truck stop Saturday was Stan Chirita of Gloucester, Ontario, Canada. Also the autopsy determined Chirita, 50, had died of natural causes, linked to several illnesses.

The coroner estimated the man had been dead six to eight days prior to the discovery of the body by another truck driver.

The body is to be flown back to Canada where it will be turned over to a funeral home in that country, McSpadden said.
