CHARLESTON - Mamie Ruth Brown, 72, died at 4:25 p.m. Dec. 4, 2007, at her home.
Born Sept. 15, 1935, at West Point, Tenn., to the late Jack S. and Gladys Josephine Perry Ketchum, she lived most of her life in Charleston. A lifetime cook, she was most recently employed at the Charleston Nutrition Center until ill-health forced her retirement. She had attended the Free Pentecostal Church in Charleston.
On June 26, 1952, she married Riley Brown Jr., who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: three sons and daughters-in-law, the Rev. Gary and Becky Brown of Herrin, Ill., John and Virginia Brown of California, Mo., and Riley "Pete" and Linda Brown of Irving, Ky.; four daughters and two sons-in-law, Sharon Brown of Conroe, Texas, Angie and Dwayne "Barney" Barnett of Sikeston, Vanessa Brown of the home and Kim and Larry Buttry of Wyatt; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Charles and Mary Ketchum and David and Janice Ketchum of Charleston; one sister, Nellie Mae Clayton of Hohnwald, Tenn.; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren and her special caregivers, Frances McCutchen of East Prairie and Margaret Vinson of Charleston.
One son, James Lee "Bo" Brown; one daughter, Lisa Brown; one brother, Williams Thomas "Sidney" Roberts; and one grandson, J.T. Brown, preceded her in death.
Visitation is from 5-8 p.m. Thursday at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston where services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday.
Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery, near Charleston.
