SIKESTON - The critical situation at the municipal light plant as to its capacity to meet the power demand in Sikeston was outlined to the city council at a meeting last night by E.P. Coleman of the Board of Municipal Works. He urged immediate action on the contract to purchase a new generating engine.
SIKESTON - Two-time All-Conference end Mike Garner of the Sikeston Bulldogs was presented a trophy by the Poplar Bluff Lettermen's Club for being named the outstanding lineman of the Northern Conference. He also was named all-
conference the past two years at that position.

SIKESTON - On Tuesday, KSIM Radio sponsored Sikeston Jaycee Day. The station donated studio time to play commercial ads sold by the Sikeston Jaycees and donated the proceeds to the Jaycees.
BENTON - The prosecution dominated the first day of the trail of Ella and Rufus Sumlin Sr. at the Scott County Courthouse Tuesday. The couple are fighting to reopen Ella's Package Store and Club Scottie which were closed due to charges of illegal sales of liquor, illegal drug transactions and criminal street gang activity. A preliminary injunction against the businesses closed their doors Aug 19. The state is trying to prove that a permanent injunction, lasting one year for each count, should be ordered.
