KENNETT - Josephine Mae Hendrix, 86, formerly of East Prairie, died at 10:20 p.m. July 11, 2005, at her home.
Born Nov. 16, 1918, in Mississippi County, daughter of the late Harvey Lee and Lula Janie Christ Arington, she lived most of her life in Mississippi County, where she was a member of the First Church of God in East Prairie.
On Feb. 16, 1934, she married Ettril David Hendrix, who preceded her in death on Dec. 7, 1988.
One brother, John Wiley; and five sisters, Fanny May Lay, Jannie Lee Hutcheson, Vivian Hodge, Mollie Blumenberg and Patty Louis Baker also preceded her in death.
Survivors include: six sons, David Joe and Ettril Lindsey of Lafayette, Ga., Allan Roy of Arkansas, Earl Landon of Adel, Ga., Harvey Leon of Peoria, Ill. and Wiley Arington of Fairbanks, Alaska; two daughters, Nelda Louise Skinner of Kennett and Faith Elaine McKay of Estiline, S.D.; three brothers, Linvel Arington of Florida, Arlie Arington of Upland, Calif., and Bill Arington of Dogwood; two sisters, Alene Baker of East Prairie and Dalvie Blumenberg of Clinton, Ky.; and 30 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Shelby Funeral Home, where services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Thursday. Eulogies will be given by her family.
Burial will follow in the Dogwood Cemetery.
