SIKESTON - Malone Theatre today featured "Music for Millions" starring Donna Reed and Margaret O'Brien. At the Rex is "Thank Your Lucky Stars" with an all-star cast.


SIKESTON - Arden Andrew Ellise, son of Mr. and Mrs. Arden Ellise, sustained a broken right arm while playing at the home or Mrs. W. H. Martin, a nearby neighbor.

SIKESTON - Donna Long, 15, of Holland, was chosen Miss American Legion Fair last night at Hayti. She will reign over the Caruthersville Fair Oct. 6 -10.


SIKESTON - The Kingsway Plaza Shopping Center on the southeast corner of Kingshighway and Murray Lane will have a TG&Y store, a variety outlet.

EAST PRAIRIE - Tonight has been declared "Night Out" by the Neighborhood Watch program, beginning at 7 p.m. Jake Abner, watch coordinator, requests all residents to turn on their outside lights and be in their yards between 7 and 8 p.m. During that hour, volunteers all wearing identification tags will be canvassing their neighborhood for donations to purchase Neighborhood Watch decals.

SIKESTON - With the increase of illegal drugs, area law enforcement officers are fighting the epidemic full force. The addition of Astro, the Sikeston DPS's Crime Dog, to the crime fighting effort has had a positive effect with more than 30 searches for drugs having been conducted.

SIKESTON - Sheriff Bill Ferrell will be roasted and toasted at the Sikeston Area Chamber of Commerce second annual Friendly Roast. The roast will begin with a social hour at 6:30 p.m. at the Ramada Inn. The prime rib dinner will be served at 7 p.m. followed by the program. Tickets are $30 each or a table for eight can be purchased for $240.
