SIKESTON - A group of friends surprised Mrs. M.E. Childress Friday evening with a dinner and bridge party, the occasion being Mrs. Childress' birthday.

SIKESTON - City employees were guests at a steak dinner with musical entertainment last night at the Holiday Inn. There were more than 200 present for the second annual occasion. Taylor Noles, vice mayor, presided in the absence of Mayor Kendall Sikes, who is on vacation in Hawaii. Wrist watches were presented to Charles Miller and S.A. Bradley.

SIKESTON - Girl Scout cookies arrived in Sikeston on Monday - 2,281 cases of them! Scout leaders spent most of the day loading cases of the treats, which were located at Tanner Street Church of God. Cookie chairmen are Sandy Goad and Christy McDowell. The cookies will be delivered in the area March 10.

SIKESTON - The Sikeston Senior High Field House was the site of the First Annual Donald L. Fulton Sr. Memorial Jump Rope for Heart. Some of the events included three minute jumping by students from kindergarten on up to senior high school. Also it featured The Bouncing Bulldogs Jump Rope for Heart Demo Team and Kenneth L. Strachan from Bowie, Md.
