SIKESTON - A Sikeston resident was among three Missouri Lottery Powerball players who not only won the usual $200,000 second-level prize, but will also received a $653,492 cash bonus since the jackpot was hit for a total winnings of $853,492.
The woman, whose name was not available at press time, had purchased her ticket at Jaspers, 1631 E. Malone, in Sikeston. Officials with Quick Check in Sikeston said she verified the number via their machine.
Her prize money will be claimed throgh the state lottery office in Jefferson City.
In addition to the Sikeston second-level prize, two other Missourians matched five numbers to win $853,492. Winning tickets were also sold at Cables Grocery and Package, Highway NN in Steele, and 7-Eleven, 6085 N. Lindbergh in Hazelwood.
In addition, one player who used Power Play and matched the numbers for the third-level prize ended up winning $50,000. Thousands of other Missouri players won more than $1 million in prizes ranging from $3 to $10,000. In all, Missouri Powerball players will take home more than $3.7 million in prizes from last night's drawing.
"Don't throw away your tickets if you don't have all six numbers," said Larry Jansen, executive director for the Missouri Lottery. "There are eight other prizes in the game, so be sure to check your tickets closely."
Missouri Lottery Powerball players have 180 days from the drawing to claim their prizes, which in this case would be until April 17, 2006.
