ESSEX - Julius Ray Newell, 70, died Oct. 22, 2005, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
Born April 13, 1935, at Balwin, Miss., the son of the late Barney Lee and Lucy Reeves Newell, he was formerly employed with Sikeston John Deere Equipment Company.
On May 6, 1988, in Poplar Bluff, he married Marie Crosno, who preceded him in death Aug. 17, 2001.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by six brothers, one sister, one grandson and one niece.
Survivors include: two sons, Donald Ray Newell of Cape Girardeau and Stevie Lee Newell of Bloomfield; three daughters, Debbie Horton of Leachville, Ark., Vickie Lollar of Clinton, Tenn. and Charlotte Carmichael of Blytheville, Ark.; four stepsons, Theodore Crosno of Gilbertstville, Ky., Buford Crosno of Burton, Mich., A.J. Crosno of Zalma and Allen Crosno of Phoenix, Ariz.; three stepdaughters, Blanche Jerls of Flint, Mich., June Freeman of Bell City and Shirley Heigle of Mayersville, Miss.; 15 grandchildren and 27 great-
grandchildren and a special friend, Shirley Ham.
Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter, where services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday with the Rev. Danny Collins officiating.
Burial will follow in the Hagy Cemetery.
