EAST PRAIRIE -- Alfreda Ree Shortz Watson, 85, died at 11:20 a.m. Feb. 16, 2006, at her home.
Born May 31, 1920, in Charleston, daughter of the late Charles and Stella Stallings Shortz, she lived most of her life in Mississippi County where she was a member of the First Baptist Church in East Prairie.
On Sept. 27, 1940, she married Weldon M. Watson who preceded her in death on July 17, 1996.
One brother, Charles Shortz, and one sister, Martha E. Pickett, also preceded her in death.
Survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law, Weldon W. and Nancy Watson Jr. of Tuscumbia, Ala.; one daughter and son-in-law, Jan W. and J.C. Coomer of Cordova, Tenn.; one brother, Alfred L. Shortz of Magalia, Calif.; one brother-in-law and his wife, Joe and Vivian Watson; two grandchildren, Stephanie Krinock of Mureno Valley, Calif., and Justin Coomer of Memphis, Tenn.; and one great-granddaughter, Clarissa Krinock of Mureno Valley.
Visitation is after 5 p.m. today at Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie where services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday with George White and Ted Wimberley officiating.
Burial will follow in the Odd Fellows Cemetery.
