Emerson to visit Sikeston

Tuesday, February 7, 2006

SIKESTON - To prepare for the House Agriculture Committee hearings on the Farm Bill, Eighth District Representative Jo Ann Emerson will hold a listening session with area agricultural producers in Sikeston Feb. 13.

The session will be at the Clinton Building and will begin at 9:30 and will last to 11:30 a.m.

"The upcoming negotiations over the farm bill are going to be extremely important for Southern Missouri. I want to hear what all of our area producers have to say on the subject," Emerson said. "I am already laying the groundwork in Washington to represent our region's best interests on policies that will affect our farming and ranching operations. Whether we extend the Farm Bill for a year or two, which would be my preference, or start renegotiating it now - we must be prepared to stand up for our best interests."
