SIKESTON -- Mae L. Johnson, 92, died June 25, 2005, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.
Born May 30, 1913, in Indian Mound, Tenn., daughter of the late Grover Lewis Sr. and Commie Seay Gillum Lewis, she worked as a bookkeeper for Potashnick Truck Line before retiring. A member of the First Baptist Church of Sikeston, she was a past matron for the Eastern Star and past president of the American Legion Auxiliary.
In 1946, she married Owen "Jiggs" Johnson, who preceded her in death in July 1977.
Survivors include: one sister, Mildred Nicholson of Sikeston.
Two brothers, Bruce Lewis and G.H. Lewis Jr.; and two sisters, Catherine Lewis and Louise Smith, preceded her in death.
Memorial services were held at 11 a.m. today at Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston. Dr. Rick Ramsey and the Rev. David Jackson, pastors of First Baptist Church of Sikeston, officiated.
