BERTRAND - Ernestine Chandler, 93, died at 12:20 p.m. Feb. 20, 2006, at the Charleston Manor.
Born April 2, 1912, in Caruthersville, to the late Frank and Frona Brazelton House, she had lived most of her life in Bertrand, where she was a member of the Bertrand United Methodist Church. She was employed from 1949 to 1965 with Brown Shoe Company in Charleston, became a licensed practical nurse and worked at the Bertrand Nursing Facility until retiring in 1990.
On Nov. 9, 1930, she married Joel Coleman "J.C." Chandler, who preceded her in death on Dec. 11, 1992.
One son, Jimmie J. Chandler; one daughter, Dolores "Dody" Hook; seven brothers; and three sisters also preceded her in death.
Survivors include: two daughters, Helen L. Ezzell of Bertrand and Beverly Stark of Charleston; one sister, Frances Green of Sikeston; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery. The Rev. Lois McRill, pastor of the Bertrand United Methodist Church, will officiate.
McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston is in charge of arrangements.
