DELTA - Helen Earlene Curry, 76, died at 9:45 p.m. Feb. 19, 2006, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
Born Jan. 13, 1930, in Delta, daughter of the late Remus Benson and Ruby Pearl Hodge Medlock, she lived her entire life in Delta. A hair dresser for 47 years, she had owned and operated Earlene's Beauty Shop at Delta and was a hair dresser for 17 years at the Chaffee Nursing Center. She was a volunteer at Southeast Missouri Hospital and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Delta where she was a choir member and taught children's Sunday School for nearly 60 years.
On March 2, 1970, she married Louis Curry who preceded her in death on Jan. 12, 1998.
Survivors include: one son, Kevin Curry of Kelso; three daughters, Diann Newell of Cape Girardeau, Vicki Smith of Jefferson City and Sandra Curry of Mount Juliet, Tenn.; one brother, Burl Medlock of Gordonville; and 10 grandchildren and one great-grandson.
Visitation is from 4:30 to 8 p.m. today at the First Baptist Church of Delta where services will be conducted at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Eric Hodge officiating.
Burial will follow in the New Bethel Baptist Cemetery near Pocahontas.
Pallbearers will be: Bob McManus, Tim Lipe, James Gloth, Lowell Fish, Ronald Fowler and Denny Borneman.
Honorary pallbearers will be: Bill Vance, James Reitzel, Jim Perry, Jerome DeBrock and David Hart.
