ZALMA - The Risco Tigers basketball team wrapped up their season on a winning note on Friday night, with a 74-55 victory over the host Zalma Bulldogs.
Senior Andrew Halford led the way for the Tigers with 32 points, as Risco cruised to the non-conference victory. Ricky Davis hit five 3-pointers in the contest and had 17 points. Rodulfo Johnson continues to improve his play and had 10 points.
Risco led 37-27 at halftime and steadily pulled away in the second half. The Tigers hit nine 3-pointers in the contest, which proved to be the difference in the game.
Risco (13-10) will begin play in Class 1, District 1 on Monday as they will face Southland in the first round at 6:30 p.m. Games will be held at Gideon High School.
The Richland Rebels basketball team finished their regular season with a win over the Cooter Wildcats, 63-40
Paced by Cameron Whittaker, Richland was never challenged by the bootheel team. Whittaker led the Rebels with 25 points. Sophomores Tommy Harlan and Matt Ritch each chipped in 13 points for Richland.
Richland (9-14) faced Chaffee in the first round of the Class 2, District 2 tournament on Saturday at Bloomfield. Results were not available at press time.
