Born Feb. 14, 1936, in Walnut, Miss., son of the late Willie V. and Thelma Leona Gates Kennedy, he had worked as a truck driver for over 40 years, retiring from Edwards Transportation in East Prairie. He was of the Baptist belief.
Survivors include: one son, John Mark Kennedy of Story, Ark.; four brothers, Raymond Kennedy of Wappapello, Noah Kennedy of Sikeston, Marshall Kennedy of Bertrand and Martin Kennedy of Sikeston; three sisters, Ollie Panell of Walnut, Nora Williams of Lonoke, Ark., and Patsy Harris of Sikeston; and two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation is from 1 p.m. Friday until time for services at 3 p.m. at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston.
Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery.
