DEXTER - Lucille Bates, 85, died May 2, 2006, in the emergency room of the Missouri Southern Healthcare at Dexter.
Born Sept. 9, 1920, at Bernie, daughter of the late James and Ora Vineyard Kifer, she was a homemaker and a member of the First General Baptist Church in Dexter.
On Feb. 23, 1937, at Bernie, she was united in marriage to Robert Daniel Bates who preceded her in death on Oct. 27, 1986.
Survivors include: two sons, Terry Bates of Bloomfield and Larry Bates of Bernie; three daughters, Gloria Wilson of Essex, Peggy Wiggs of Independence and Sandra Borders of Dexter; two sisters, Helen Thurston of Kennett and Goldie Hunt of Flint, Mich.; and 15 grandchildren and 30 great-
One son, Danny Bates; four brothers, Homer Kifer, Dawsey Kifer, Freeman Kifer and Earl Kifer; five sisters, Mera Kifer, Mabel Kifer, Pansy Walker, Pearl Ott and Amy Becking; and three grandchildren, two in infancy, also preceded her in death.
Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter, where services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday. The Rev. Kenneth Biggs will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Bernie Cemetery.
