ST. LOUIS - Vernetta Edna Williams, 92, formerly of Sikeston, died March 13, 2006, at Delmar Gardens in St. Louis.

Born Nov. 3, 1913, in Sikeston, daughter of the late Edgar H. and Lucy Levella Ruffin Smith, she was a member of the First Baptist Church in Sikeston for over 80 years, where she served as the financial secretary for 25 years.

On April 17, 1946, she married Kenneth Avelle Williams, who preceded her in death Feb. 9, 1997.

Two sisters, Lola Jines and Shirley Jean Colp, also preceded her in death.

Survivors include: two daughters, Jeanette Sue Heskett and Judith Ann Knell of St. Louis; one sister, Mary Ethel Masters of East Prairie; three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Visitation is from 10 a.m. until time of services at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the First Baptist Church. The Rev. Rick Ramsey, pastor of First Baptist Church, will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Sikeston.
