CAIRO, Ill. - Helen Nance Polk, 73, died at 11:36 p.m. March 12, 2006, at the Life Care Center in Cape Girardeau, Mo.
Born Jan. 4, 1933, in East Prairie, Mo., daughter of the late George and Sadie Lee Singleton Nance, she moved from Wolf Island to Cairo in 1981 and was of the Baptist belief.
Survivors include: one son, Melvin Patrick Polk of Tamms, Ill.; one daughter, Janice Campbell of Joliet, Ill.; one sister, Virginia Manker of Cairo; four grandchildren; and a special friend and caretaker, Shirley Jorden of Cairo.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded her in death by one daughter, Dorothy Polk; four brothers, George Nance, Elmer Nance, Marvin Nance and Paul Nance; and one sister, Dorothy Nance.
Visitation is from 11 a.m. until time of services at 1 p.m. Thursday at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston, Mo. The Rev. Bill Meeks, pastor of the First General Baptist Church of Charleston, will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Spencer Heights Cemetery at Mounds.
