SIKESTON - Mildred Joyce "Midge" Morris, 72, formerly of Kansas City, Mo., died at 1:45 p.m. Feb. 21, 2006, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
Born Nov. 19, 1933, in Sikeston, to the late Oscar J. and Victoria F. Casteel Morris, she was a 1951 graduate of Caruthersville High School. She retired from Southwestern Bell at Kansas City where she had worked for over 30 years in the accounting department. She moved in 2002 to Sikeston, where she was a member of the Tanner Street Church of God.
Survivors include: two brothers and one sister-in-law, Earl Wayne Morris of Roswell, N.M. and David H. and Patricia L. Porter of Ellisville; one sister and brother-in-law, Claudine M. and David Deem of Manniford, Okla.; one aunt, Gertrude "Granny" Lane of Sikeston; "Grandma Midge's" three special children, Scott Porter, Jennifer Porter and Ashley Porter, all of Ellisville; one nephew, Steven Deem of Broken Arrow, Okla.; and two nieces Melissa Lynn of Aurora Colo. and Pam Fleming of Stillwater, Okla.; five cousins, Maxine McGee, Mary Lee Hailey and Barbara Bartlett, all of Sikeston, and Berenice Bruce and Lena Smith, both of Dennison, Texas; and a host of second and third cousins.
Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Blanchard Funeral Chapel in Sikeston.
Visitation will continue from 11 a.m. until time of services at 1 p.m. Saturday at Tanner Street Church of God. The Revs. Carl Addison and Larry Smith, pastor and associate pastor of Tanner Street Church of God, will officiate.
Graveside committal services will be conducted in the Little Prairie Cemetery at Caruthersville at 3:30 p.m.
Pallbearers will be: Bill Hailey, Jim Hailey, Mike Bartlett, Tim Bartlett, Scott Porter, Norvin Porter, John David Pattillo, Billy Pyland, Bob Lawrence and Jim Nuckolls.
