SIKESTON -- Donald Ray Sorrells, 72, died at 1 a.m. Dec. 18, 2006, at his home.

Born Feb. 4, 1934, in Corning, Ark., son of the late Leslie and Helen Cummins Sorrells, he lived in Sikeston most of his life. In 1996, he retired from the Missouri Department of Transportation as a real estate appraiser, and he was a member of the First Christian Church in East Prairie.

On Dec. 29, 1951, in Arkansas, he married Bette Jean Davis, who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law, Stanley Warren and Brenda Leigh Sorrells of Sikeston; and three brothers and one sister-in-law, Bill Sorrells and Robert "Bob" and Betty Sorrells of East Prairie and Ken Sorrells of Wichita, Kan.

He was preceded in death by: one granddaughter, Courtney Leigh Sorrells; and one sister, Bonnie Sorrells.

Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. tonight at the Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie, where services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday with Larry Lane officiating.

Burial will follow in the Dogwood Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be: Larry Britt, Jack Britt, Robert Taylor, Billy Bradley, Harold Johnson and Bob LeFebvre.
