SIKESTON - The Sikeston Lady Bulldogs tennis team dropped its first match of the season at home to the Poplar Bluff Lady Mules losing 7-2 in singles and doubles action.

Jenni DeWitt was the lone Lady Bulldog to register a win.

"Jenni played extremely well for us today," said Sikeston coach Lynne DeWitt.

In doubles, DeWitt teamed with Tess Marshall to notch a win for Sikeston.

"Jenni and Tess played excellent in the doubles match and fought hard for the victory," said coach DeWitt. "Poplar Bluff had a good team and this was our first match and we had to get the nerves out."

Although Sikeston lost the match, coach DeWitt did emphasize that some of the matches were a lot closer than the score would indicate.

The junior varsity also lost to the Lady Mules 6-1.

Sikeston is back on the road next Wednesday against Dexter at 4:00 p.m.
