EAST PRAIRIE -- Melvin Eugene Woods, 68, died at 11:35 p.m. July 3, 2006, at his home.
Born May 11, 1938, in East Prairie, son of Dimple M. Harden Woods of East Prairie and the late Neal E. Woods, he lived near Zalma for the past several years and retired from Tyson Foods of Dexter. He attended the Brush Creek Baptist Church at Arab.
On Nov. 19, 1960, he married Betty Lou Husk who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: four sons and two daughters-in-law, Randy Eugene and Doris Woods of Benton, Gregory Dale and Monica Woods of Puxico, Barry Drew Woods and Jason J. Woods of Cape Girardeau; one brother, Jimmy Woods of East Prairie; four sisters, Ruby Larson of Litchfield, Mich., Margaret Manness of Sikeston, Mary Lou Miller of St. Joseph, La., and Marilyn Dodge of Dexter; and five grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Two brothers also preceded him in death.
Visitation is from 11 a.m. Friday until time for services at 2 p.m. at Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie. Bill Sargent and Mike Johnson will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Dogwood Cemetery.
