SIKESTON -- Kenneth Carter, 81, died July 2, 2006, at his home in Sikeston.
Born May 10, 1925, in Sikeston, son of the late Homer Haddock and Lottie Williford Carter, he had lived in Sikeston since 1961 and was a sales representative for Bruce Terminex for many years; he had also worked for Midway Wholesale Florist of Sikeston. A Navy veteran of World War II and the Korean War, he served aboard the USS Tuscaloosa as a boatswains mate from 1941 to 1945.
On March 14, 1947, in Corinth, Miss., he married Wallace Muriel Cooley who preceded him in death on April 11, 1992.
He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Ruth Carter and Doris Hope Carter; two brothers, Home Van Carter and John Henry Carter; a son-in-
law, Lwayne Beaird; and a great-grandson.
Survivors include: one daughter, Marilyn Kay Beaird of Highlandville; two sons and daughters-in-law, Mike and Melinda Carter of Flower Mound, Texas, and Joe and Donna Carter of Charleston; one sister, Nettie Cook of Jackson, Tenn.; and 13 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were held Tuesday at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Sikeston.
Ponder Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
