SENATH -- Ethel Sloan, 81, formerly of Sikeston, died March 10, 2006, at the Senath Nursing Center in Senath.
Born Nov. 29, 1924, in Himmell, daughter of the late Thomas William and Allie Lingle, she was a member of the Morehouse General Baptist Church in Morehouse. She had worked for the International Shoe Factory, Pittman Cleaners and had been a cook for Lambert's Cafe and Sikeston Convalescent Center in Sikeston before retiring.
On July 8, 1947, at Piggott, Ark., she married Earl Sloan, who preceded her in death on Feb. 4, 1997.
One son, Thomas Earl Sloan, also preceded her in death.
Survivors include: two sons, Earl J. Sloan of Sikeston and Brian Keith Sloan of the state of Wyoming; two daughters, Elizabeth J. Holland of Arbyrd and Janice Earlene Holt of Heflin, Ala.; one sister, Faye Brewer of Sikeston; and 19 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Sikeston. The Rev. Jim Barnhart, associate pastor of the Miner Baptist Church in Miner, will officiate.
Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston is in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers will be: Anthony Sloan, Terry Sloan, Michael Sloan, Darrell Jones, Donald Jones, Tony Graham, David Holt and Billy Schaefer.
