LEITCHFIELD - Former Sikeston "Lady Bulldog" athlete standout Nancy Miles spurred the Grayson County High School "Lady Cougars" softball team to a first-in-state ranking as the team's assistant coach.
During the regional championship, the Cougars lost 2-1 against the Owensboro Catholic High School. Owensoboro would go on to win the state tournament.
The Grayson County coaching staff was named "Coaching Staff of the Year" in Division 3-A.
The Lady Cougar pitcher, Michelle Critchlow, was chosen "Miss Kentucky Softball." Her teammate, Beth Glasscock, was selected as "Player of the Year" in Division 3-A.
Miles graduated from Sikeston High School in 1992.
She is the daughter of Mary Etta Lancaster and the late Joe Miles of Sikeston.
