DEXTER - Virdie May Shaver, 92, died Sept. 2, 2005, at the Beverly Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Dexter.
Born Sept. 1, 1913, at Savannah, Tenn., to the late Hiram Franklin McCanless and Lucinda Emerson McCanless, she was a member of the First General Baptist Church at Dexter and a licensed practical nursing working in government.
On Jan. 2, 1930, she married Leonard Shaver, who preceded her in death on March 31, 1972. She then married Roy Shaver, who also preceded her in death.
Survivors include: one son, Albert Shaver of Dexter; three grandchildren and their spouses, Lynn and Ron Newton of Sikeston, Bill and Peggy Shaver of Spring, Texas and Leonard "Speedy" Shaver of New York, New York; and five great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by four sons, Owen Junior Shaver, John Hoyet Shaver, Ronnie K. Shaver and an unnamed infant; one daughter, Velda May Shaver; three brothers and three sisters.
Services were conducted Sunday at the Rock Hill Cemetery near Puxico with the Rev. Tom McCanless officiating.
Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter was in charge of arrangements.
