Dexter girls blow out Charleston

CHARLESTON -- The Dexter Lady Bearcats rolled to a 58-15 road win over the Charleston Lady Jays on Thursday.

Dexter (15-3), No. 1 in the latest Southeast Missouri Sportswriters and Sportscasters Association Poll, jumped to a 15-2 first-quarter lead and never looked back.

Dexter limited Charleston to single field goals in the first and third quarters. Ten Lady Bearcats entered the scoring column led by Taylor Nelson's 22 points. Amanda Dooley added 12.

Freshman Prillicia Turner's seven points, including two 3s, topped Charleston. Kariah Simpson had five points.

Charleston (1-12) visits Kelly on Tuesday.

PUXICO -- The Oran Lady Eagles defeated Puxico 49-28 on Thursday.

The Lady Eagles (10-6) pulled away steadily, leading 10-6 after one quarter, 21-14 at the half and 37-20 after three quarters.

Erica Michelsen's 21 points and Tiffany Glastetter's 17 led the Oran scoring, while J. Wheetley had nine to lead Puxico.

Oran hosts Chaffee on Monday.
