MOREHOUSE - The New Madrid County mobile dental unit arrived in New Madrid Thursday and was placed in operation for the first time Tuesday at the Morehouse Public School. WASHINGTON - The Senate on Friday confirmed the nomination of a Missouri broadcaster, Alfred Sikes, as assistant secretary of commerce for communications and information.
SIKESTON - Deneka Borders, 15-year-old daughter of Ron and Connie Borders of Sikeston, was named second runner-up in the 1986 Miss Junior Missouri Pageant March 9 at Westport Playhouse in St. Louis. She received the official Miss Junior American trophy, a Panasonic stereo and the official Miss Junior American participation plaque.
SIKESTON - Missouri residents will not be too happy with State Auditor Margaret Kelly's findings which indicate 88 Missouri school districts have hit taxpayers with $10 million in unconstitutional tax increases. School officials are up in arms over Kelly's claim that the districts are defying the Hancock Amendment.

"Auto thefts continues to be a big business in the state and Missouri motorists are paying for it," said Calvin Call, executive director of the Missouri Insurance Information Service.
